Sand Management Plan 2016
The Ocean View Sand Dune and Beach Advisory Committee was established by the City of Norfolk on 2014 to provide guidance and a long term strategy for dealing with sand and dune issues along the Chesapeake Bay shoreline, The Committee, formed by Norfolk City Council to include Council members along with representation from local Ocean View shoreline Civic Leagues and residents, has created a Sand Management Plan (SMP) which addresses five different areas along 7.3 miles of the Norfolk Ocean View Bayfront to include Willoughby Spit.
This comprehensive plan is intended to promote sand dune and beach stability, functionality and resiliency consistent with local, state and federal laws and regulations. the complete plan my be viewed HERE.

NOTE: A public meeting to present this plan to the Norfolk Planning Commission will be held on May 26, 2016 at 2:30p.m. Residents are encouraged to weigh in with feedback on the plan.
